Corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery) involves correcting the jaw’s position. This type of surgery, if required, is performed by a very skilled and experienced Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon by referral.
Signs and symptoms this type of surgery may be required include:
- Jaw pain
- Difficulty speaking clearly
- Receding chin or protruding jaw
- Challenges with chewing or biting food
- Facial injury or birth defects
- An open bite
- Cannot bring lips together
- Snoring or sleep apnoea
